VM Tips: VMC fails at 2% sysimage.fault.NfcConnectionFault

24 Nov

VMC (VM Converter) is a great and free tool released by VMWare to assist in cloning VMs and making physical machines into virtual machines and vice versa.

If you receive the error

P2VError UNKNOWN_METHOD_FAULT(sysimage.fault.NfcConnectionFault)

In Converter Wizard, at Source Data wizard page, pick “Select volumes and resize to save or add space” option. Select all the volumes and don’t resize any disks.

I found another solution to a problem similar to this:

“Can you use volume based level cloning instead of disk based cloning? In Converter Wizard, at Source Data wizard page, pick “Select volumes and resize to save or add space” option. Select all the volumes and don’t resize any disks.
    Thanks, ” from – http://communities.vmware.com/thread/65427;jsessionid=4B97AD33C84E6E12367E694832AD1F55?tstart=15

Great! Thanks for the tip Charlie. I’ll try that next time I run into and issue with Converter.
